Maubeuge · Nord · Hauts-de-France

The Henri Boëz Museum is a municipal museum located in Maubeuge, in the North. Founded in 1878 by Édouard Bertrand through donations, it houses over a thousand objects covering painting, sculpture, ceramics and archaeology. Severely damaged by bombardments in September 1914, the museum underwent several relocations before being installed at Place Verte from 1939 onwards. Since 1972 it has borne the name of Henri Boëz, its curator for over forty years who orchestrated its reconstruction. Closed since 1993, the museum is preparing to be reborn: a preview space, the Boëz Space – the museum outlined, offers exhibitions and presents around a hundred restored works. The museum received the label in 2002, recognizing the public interest of its collections.
