Clion · Charente-Maritime · Nouvelle-Aquitaine

The Craft and Rural Museum of Clion-sur-Seugne, located in Haute Saintonge in Charente-Maritime, is housed in the former village presbytery as well as in an adjacent park. Founded in 1972 by volunteers and formalized in 1975 under the association "Les Amis du Temps Passé" (Friends of the Past), it brings together more than two thousand tools and objects relating to the trades and rural customs of yesteryear. The collections are organized by theme — agriculture, crafts, forge, wine cellar, woodworking — and distributed among seven exhibition rooms, covered outbuildings of three hundred square meters built in 2008, and outdoor spaces. The museum bears witness to the material heritage and practices of rural and craft life in a region historically devoted to agriculture and viticulture.
