The Museum of Marine Troops, located in Fréjus in the Var, is a repository dedicated to the military history and traditions of the Marine Troops of the Army. Labeled, it traces four centuries of history of these units founded in the mid-17th century, initially intended for military expeditions overseas, which became colonial troops in 1900. The museum presents a collection of approximately 25,000 objects including uniforms, weapons, emblems, decorations and ethnographic memorabilia, testimonies of a French presence on all continents. Its permanent and temporary exhibitions occupy more than 1,400 m² and are aimed at a wide civilian and military audience. A place of memory and transmission of military heritage, it constitutes a major tourist hub in the Fréjus-Saint-Raphaël agglomeration.
