The Museum of Fine Arts and Natural History of Châteaudun, established under the status of [institutional status], brings together archaeological, artistic and naturalist collections from the Dunoise Society of Archaeology, State deposits and donations. The ground floor houses the Egyptian art room, containing a significant portion of Émile Amélineau's collection, as well as a room dedicated to the city's resistance during the 1870 war against the Prussians. Two rooms present Oriental and Asian art, notably Japanese katagamis. The bird gallery displays approximately 3,000 naturalized birds and mammals from the five continents, which make up the collection of the Marquis de Tarragon, ornithologist and collector. A diorama room completes the visit by presenting animals from the local territory. The museum also offers activities, workshops for children and temporary exhibitions.
