Musée
Trépot · Doubs · Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

The Trépot Museum, officially named the Trépot Cheese Factory-Museum or Repository of Cheese-Making Traditions, is located in the village of Trépot, in Doubs, in the heart of Burgundy-Franche-Comté. It is housed in the village's former cheese factory, which was active from 1818 to 1978, and recreates a traditional Comté cheese-making workshop with period tools. The museum presents collections dedicated to regional cheeses (Comté, Morbier, Mont d'Or, Bleu de Gex, Cancoillotte) and the history of cheese-making techniques, particularly through its exhibition space "The 1818 Cellar." Temporary exhibitions, including one on the advertising history of Comté and one on the Laughing Cow, supplement the museum's offerings. The site offers guided tours, historical screenings, and regularly hosts the Cheese Festival, an annual event celebrating cheese heritage and local traditions.
