Seurre · Côte-d'Or · Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

The Red Pond Open-Air Museum is a museum of architecture and rural life located in Seurre, in Côte-d'Or. The site recreates a traditional village of the Saône Valley using around fifteen buildings dating from the 17th to 19th centuries, including peasant houses, farm buildings, a village café and schoolroom, furnished with period objects. This project, resulting from the work of an association since the early 1990s, aims to preserve the memory of local rural architecture through the study, dismantling and reconstruction of these historic structures. The site is enriched by an orchard and conservatory vineyards containing more than 150 old varieties of fruit, testimony to the region's agricultural wealth. The outdoor areas are freely accessible year-round, while the houses welcome visitors according to a seasonal schedule, with the possibility of guided tours by appointment.
