Musée
Harnes · Pas-de-Calais · Hauts-de-France

The Harnes Museum of History and Archaeology, created in 1926 by the town's war veterans, is housed in the former residence of André-Déprez, mayor, deputy and senator. Listed as a historic monument, it brings together military collections tracing the two world conflicts as well as archaeological objects from the Harnes territory, from the Gallo-Roman and medieval periods. Five rooms develop local history, notably the Resistance and Deportation, while three archaeology rooms document the prehistoric and medieval past. The museum also has a library of historical works and archives accessible to researchers and students. Partially renovated in 2012 as part of the Transmussites 14-45 program, the establishment offers an educational reception area and guarantees accessibility for people with reduced mobility. Managed by the Association of Friends of Old Harnes, the museum is open on Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., with free admission.
