The Museum of History and Archaeology of Alpe d'Huez is located at 1,850 meters altitude on the Grandes Rousses plateau in Isère. It offers three permanent exhibitions dedicated to local and regional history. The first, titled "The Spectacle of the Mountain," traces the tourist and architectural development of the resort as well as the history of skiing since the 1920s; the second, "Brandes and the Silver Rush of the 12th and 13th Centuries," presents the results of archaeological excavations of the medieval mining site of Brandes; the third evokes the Maquis of Oisans during World War II. Located on the first floor of the AgorAlp, the museum offers a tour adapted for all audiences, combining collection objects, multimedia content, and interactive spaces. Access is free and open to the public, and guided tours for groups are organized upon reservation.
