The Carnavalet Museum – History of Paris is the oldest municipal museum in the capital. Located in the heart of the Marais, on rue Madame de Sévigné in the 3rd arrondissement, it is dedicated to the history and transformations of Paris from the Middle Ages to the contemporary period. Its collections, freely accessible through a permanent exhibition, bring together works and objects relating to different periods of Paris: archaeological evidence, documents from the French Revolution, portraits of notable figures such as Madame de Sévigné, as well as historical signs and testimonies of urban life. The museum regularly offers exhibitions, thematic tours, and educational workshops, open to individual visitors, families, and school groups. It is part of the network of museums of the City of Paris.
