The Izernore archaeological museum is a site museum located in rural territory in the Ain, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It preserves and exhibits over 500 pieces of archaeological artifacts excavated since the end of the 18th century in Izernore and its surroundings, testifying to the Gallo-Roman occupation of the ancient site of Isarnodurum. The collections illustrate daily life, living conditions, and economic, craft, and agricultural activities of this small Gallo-Roman settlement, the only one documented to date in the Upper Bugey. The museum offers original and engaging scenography, enriched by a regular program of temporary exhibitions, lectures, and educational activities.
