The Argentomagus archaeological museum is a site museum located in Saint-Marcel, in Indre, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. It presents collections spanning more than a million years, from prehistory to the Gallo-Roman period, with particular emphasis on sculpture, coins, ceramics, glassware, and Gallo-Roman metal objects. The museum is accompanied by an archaeological site with free access, documenting the evolution of Argentomagus from the Gallic oppidum to the Roman city, with remains of the forum, basilica, theater, baths, and a necropolis. The establishment benefits from remarkable contemporary architecture and also offers a Roman garden with a presentation of aromatic, ornamental, and medicinal plants. The museum completes its educational mission through temporary exhibitions, workshops, and regular activities open to all audiences.
