The Ascq 1944 Memorial is a history museum dedicated to the massacre of 86 civilians perpetrated by soldiers of the 12th SS Hitlerjugend Division during the night of April 1-2, 1944. Located in Villeneuve-d'Ascq in the Nord region, on the main site of the executions, the memorial places this tragic event within the context of the Occupation of Northern France. The site functions as a place of reflection on the fate of civilians during World War II, carrying a message in favor of peace, tolerance, and brotherhood. The memorial offers individual and group visits, guided tours of the significant sites of the tragedy, as well as documentary resources including testimonies and interactive elements. It also collaborates with other local institutions to provide educational programs for school groups.
