The Museum of the History of Medicine occupies the Hôtel-Dieu of Hautefort, a building listed as a Historic Monument founded in 1669 by the Marquis of Hautefort. Located in Périgord Noir, in Dordogne, the museum houses a collection of over 6,500 medical objects and instruments covering the fields of dentistry, medicine, and surgery. The Hôtel-Dieu, built according to distinctive architecture in the form of a Greek cross topped with a lantern dome, houses this exceptional collection entrusted to the municipality by the Association of Medical Museography. The building is currently undergoing restoration. Throughout the year, the museum offers educational programs and workshops for all audiences.
