The Compiègne Castle, located in Oise in the Hauts-de-France region, houses several museums and heritage spaces. The Museum of Carriages, an annex of the national castle museum, offers collections of horse-drawn vehicles, sleighs, bicycles and early automobiles, documenting the evolution of transportation and tourism. The castle also includes the Second Empire Museum and the Empress Museum, which present furniture, art objects, paintings, sculptures and portraits related to this historical period. The historic apartments of the Emperor, the Empress and guests are open to visitors, complemented by a remarkable park.
