The Lansyer Museum, established in Loches in Indre-et-Loire, occupies the former residence of Emmanuel Lansyer, a 19th-century landscape painter. Opened in 1902 according to the artist's wishes, the museum preserves more than 6,000 objects bequeathed to the city: nearly 500 paintings, approximately 2,000 prints by old masters, more than 1,000 works of Japanese art, as well as photographs and the painter's personal effects. The layout, arranged on the ground floor and upper floor, invites visitors to discover Lansyer's favorite landscapes and the various facets of his life as an artist and collector. The museum offers sensory installations and educational facilities adapted for all audiences, including a room dedicated to families. The artist's garden, redesigned based on an original watercolor, extends the visit by offering a panoramic view of the medieval city.
