The Marguerite Yourcenar Museum, located in Saint-Jans-Cappel in the Nord region, is dedicated to the life and work of the writer. Founded in 1985 and visited by Marguerite Yourcenar in 1986, the museum explores the deep connection binding the author to Mont-Noir and the region, where she spent her childhood vacations from 1903 to 1913. The permanent exhibition comprises three rooms: the first presents her childhood through photographs and period documents; the second recreates her office at Petite Plaisance, her American residence where she wrote her major novels; the third recounts her election to the Académie française and her environmental commitment. A documentary composed of interviews with the writer completes this presentation of her life and works.
