The Marc Deydier Museum is housed in a 17th-century townhouse in the heart of the village of Cucuron, in Vaucluse. It brings together collections organized around three main themes: Gallo-Roman archaeology, local ethnography of the 19th and 20th centuries, and photography. The archaeological collection includes in particular material from the villa of Vièly and the Gallo-Roman Mausoleum of Cucuron, as well as a graffito depicting a Roman merchant ship from the 1st-2nd centuries. The ethnographic collections, assembled from the 1970s onwards with the participation of local residents, document the daily life of the village. The museum also preserves more than 2,800 photographic plates taken between 1900 and 1920 by Marc Deydier, a notary and enthusiast of natural sciences and archaeology. Since its integration into the UNESCO Global Geopark network, the museum has also housed rooms dedicated to the geology and paleontology of the region.
