The Estève Museum, housed in the Hôtel des Échevins in Bourges, is dedicated to the work of painter Maurice Estève (1904-2001), a major figure in twentieth-century abstract painting. Founded in 1987 following a significant donation of works by the artist and his wife, the museum holds over 200 works, of which approximately 75 are on display: oil paintings, tapestries, drawings, watercolors, collages and lithographs tracing Estève's artistic evolution. Recently renovated in 2025, the museum offers a redesigned chronological route and interactive educational spaces, including the Color Attic, accessible to families, school groups and visitors with disabilities. The fifteenth-century Gothic building, complemented by a seventeenth-century gallery, regularly hosts temporary exhibitions that enrich the permanent collections.
