The Lascaris Palace Museum is housed in a baroque building from the mid-17th century located in the heart of the old town of Nice. Built for the Lascaris-Vintimille family, considered one of the most illustrious families of Nice nobility, the palace is distinguished by its monumental staircase adorned with frescoes and its richly decorated drawing rooms. Classified as a historical monument in 1946 and purchased by the city in 1942, it was restored and opened to the public in 1970. The municipal museum offers a rich collection of ancient musical instruments as well as temporary exhibitions. The building constitutes, along with neighboring religious buildings, an exceptional architectural ensemble illustrating the evolution of civil baroque in Nice from the early 17th to the end of the 18th century.
