Musée des Métiers et traditions
Olliergues · Puy-de-Dôme · Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
The Museum of Trades and Traditions is housed in the Olliergues castle in Puy-de-Dôme. It presents the craftsmanship and traditions of the Dore valley through reconstituted workshops devoted to old trades: clog-maker, wheelwright, weaving and braiding. Each room covers a distinct theme and offers video illustration. The collections, drawn from donations, salvage and loans from local craftspeople and industrialists, document a regional craft and industrial tradition. The museum operates during the summer season, from July to August, and offers guided or self-guided visits. It has been managed by the municipality since 2000, under the impetus of the Association of Friends of the Olliergues Museum, founded in 1991.
