The Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions in Wattrelos is housed in a traditional Picard farmhouse, or cense, whose buildings are organized around a characteristic square courtyard. The museum presents a collection of everyday objects from the 19th century, now disappeared, organized in thematic scenes that recreate the domestic, professional, and recreational life of yesteryear. These objects are presented not in an inert manner, but integrated into detailed narrative displays. The museum also has a documentation center available for consultation on-site, intended for researchers as well as groups wishing to prepare their visit. Access to the permanent collections is free, while guided tours are offered by appointment.
