Located in the Correrie, a former monastic building in the Chartreuse massif, the Museum of the Grande-Chartreuse presents the history and daily life of the Order of the Carthusians from its foundation by Saint Bruno to the present day. The museum offers an exploration of the specific architecture of Carthusian monasteries throughout Europe as well as documentation on monastic practices based on silence and solitude. The collections include notably maps of the Chartreuse region. Situated in rural territory in the Isère Alps, this museum is a testament to the spiritual and architectural heritage of this religious community established for nearly a thousand years. The site also hosts cultural events and pilgrimage walks.
