The Shoe Museum is located in Romans-sur-Isère, in the Drôme, and holds the label. It is dedicated to the history and diversity of footwear, presenting pieces that span several millennia, from the Egyptian papyrus sandal to contemporary creations by prestigious fashion houses. The collections bear witness to shoes in all their aspects: their utilitarian and ritual uses across continents and eras, their formal evolution from the Middle Ages to the present day, and their status as objects of art and creation. The museum offers various educational activities and guided tours designed for different audiences. Its exhibition juxtaposes shoes from all periods, exceptional footwear, and testimonies of shoemaking traditions from around the world.
