Ecomuseum housed in the former sheepfold of the mas du Pont de Rousty in Arles, the Camargue Museum opened in 1978 and stands as the gateway to the Camargue Regional Natural Park. A museum of society, it illustrates the unique relationships between humans and nature in this delta between the Rhône and Mediterranean, marked by the meeting of fresh and salt waters. The permanent exhibition "The Thread of Water, the Thread of Time" offers an immersion into Camargue past and present, combining historical artifacts, interactive installations and contemporary artworks. Renovated in 2013 and expanded in 2019, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year, supplemented by a cultural program of performances, screenings and debates. An interpretive trail of 4.8 km extends the exploration of the territory, offering an educational approach to the Camargue landscape.
