Musée
Ongles · Alpes-de-Haute-Provence · Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur

The House of History and Memory of Ongles (MHeMO) is a museum dedicated to welcoming families of harkis in the village of Ongles, in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, from September 1962 onwards. The museum documents the arrival of twenty-five Algerian families, approximately 133 people, fleeing reprisals following Algerian independence, thanks to the intervention of Lieutenant Yvan Durand and the acceptance of mayor André Laugier. It pays tribute to these exiles, their welcome in the village, and those who supported them during their two-year stay. The museum offers visits, educational activities and study days, as part of an approach to transmit this local memory and intercultural dialogue.
