The Couriot Museum is a site museum located on the grounds of the Saint-Étienne mine in Loire. Labeled as a "Museum of France" since 2003 under the Heritage Code, it is dedicated to the history and mining heritage. Its location on the historical facilities of a former mine gives this museum a documentary character linked to industrial archaeology and the memory of the region's extractive activities. The site allows an on-site understanding of mining life and work. The museum is part of an effort to preserve the mining heritage of Saint-Étienne, a former major coal basin in the Loire valley.
